Chandramukhi
Chandramukhi (Tamil: சந்திரமுகி) is a 2005 Indian horror, comedy and drama film directed by P. Vasu and produced by Ramkumar Ganesan. With a few deviations, it is a remake of P. Vasu's previous 2004 Kannada film Apthamitra. The soundtrack and background score for the film, which later became successful enough to be released as a separate album, was composed by Vidyasagar. The film was distributed by Sivaji Productions. The film will be followed by Chandramukhi 2 which will release in 2011.
The film starred Rajinikanth in the lead role, making Chandramukhi his "come back" film after the controversy regarding his previous film Baba. The title role was played by Jyothika Saravanan while Prabhu Ganesan and Nayantara were also given lead roles. Vadivelu, Nassar, K. R. Vijaya, Vijayakumar, Vinaya Prasad, Sonu Sood, Vineeth and Malavika were given supporting roles. It was released on 14 April 2005 (India), coinciding with Tamil New Year, to become the largest opening in Tamil cinema at the time.

Plot
The story is about the village panchayat man (The Arbitrator) who sticks to honesty and deliver authentic judgment irrespective of the accused's background.In the opening scene itself, the panchayat man is applauded for his judgment(against Villain-his uncle) by a popular retired Judge.
The panchayat man(Hero) lives a respected life in a village and sees through that all the people lives happily. Whenever injustice comes to the fore ,he appears to resolve it in an authentic manner.This man lives with his mother. One day he comes to know someone is stealing the fruits and using the benefits of his farm which comes to his knowledge and found that,that is a woman(Heroine).she escapes in a funny manner and he recognize her. From then on, heroine and hero, mother gets into verbal war,in fact not a serious one. Then situation makes heroine to collect money for repaying her debt and ultimately landing up in getting married to the panchayat man. Then villain conspires against him and falls prey to it and resurfaces again to land up justice back to that village and the people. Atlast villain is forgiven and he realizes his mistake and starts to apologize to the people of the village but everyone disrespects and ignore him and put an end to the injustice.
In this movie, comedy sequence by Senthil and Goundamany is one the best pieces given by them. Invariably people watch this comedy,will laugh with their full heart. Music by Illayaraja is superb and it touches the chords in the lines of village. Good performance by Vijayakanth(hero),Suganya(heroine)and Manorama(hero's mother).Movies made based on the Gounder caste became huge hit which continued for years in Tamil Cinema.
